Our Story

rHEALTH was born when Dr. Eugene Chan realized a critical unmet need when seeing patients at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Brigham and Women's Hospital.  A problem was getting immediate diagnostic test information from a patient at the bedside.  The more time without this information, the more likely a patient was to do poorly.

"What if I can have a device in my hand that gives us the health information about a patient immediately?"  - Eugene Chan

From the outset, rHEALTH was driven by the needs of making patients lives better.  Coincidentally, about the same time, NASA shared our vision for creating such a platform.  We've been partners with NASA ever since inception and all our core innovations have NASA roots.  For NASA, this is of critical importance in keeping astronaut crew members safe when they are many million miles away from Earth.  rHEALTH is designed to address getting health information immediately and without help from medical personnel.  In tackling this challenge and set of requirements, we were put into the unique situation to innovate the best solutions to realize this vision.  We even successfully tested one of our prototypes with NASA in zero gravity via the Facilitated Access to the Space Environment for Technology (FAST) program.
