Healthcare is inaccessible and inadequate. Sophisticated lab diagnostics are only available in central laboratory settings in well-resourced countries. Accessible high-performance home-based diagnostics are needed to improve healthcare.
Healthcare should be readily available at our fingertips. Telemedicine, remote consults, and health apps are very limited without actionable diagnostic information. The majority of doctor’s visits require a blood draw or some other diagnostic information. Unfortunately, today this is not possible.
Anyone should be able to peer at their health. Currently, there is a physician or other medical professional that mediates the interaction with a patient. A patient should be able to take proactive steps to increase their health, like lowering their cholesterol with a better diet, screening for infection status, or checking their blood counts.
Here at rHEALTH, we believe if astronauts can monitor their health status by themselves in a spaceship in zero gravity, you should be able to do it too, in your home, and with your feet on the ground.
Imagine completing biomedical diagnostics with core vitals health review and sharing that information with your doctor, all while waiting for your friends at a park.
In space, there needs to be rapid diagnosis of cell counts and coagulation in the event of trauma, an accident, or the need to perform blood transfusions. This very same use parallels the need on Earth.

Management of hematology disorders requires frequent in-person visits, multiple tests, and lack of personalized information, especially when it comes to associating the best treatment plan for you. Multiple $10s of billions are spent per year on treatment, therapies, and testing, and with rHEALTH, there is a better way that improves outcomes. Both clotting and blood cell disorders are time-intensive for patients and also current tools for their management outside the hospital are inadequate. Part of the reason is the hematocrit effect and another is the lack of accurate metering and mixing for existing commercially-available analyzers. The rHEALTH Awesome device provides performance that meets or exceeds central lab standards. Our hematology solutions include a FVIII test developed with support from Biogen and the NIH. It provides hemophilia A patients the ability to monitor their factor replacement levels. Our approach will allow these patients to monitor their clotting status anywhere and anytime, prior to sports and to identify optimal therapeutic regimens. Additional coagulation tests will be utilize to monitor heparins, INR, and direct Xa inhibitors. The rHEALTH technology has also been demonstrated, in conjunction with AstraZeneca, to be highly accurate in measurement of thrombocytopenia, a condition of low platelets which can arise from certain drugs, vaccines, or immunological conditions. In conjunction with BARDA’s DRIVe, we have developed a 15-parameter blood count test that allows the diversity of blood cell parameters to be measured accurately.
Blood measurements are vital to our health. Our rHEALTH Awesome device runs our CE-marked two-stage fluorogenic FVIII assay for hemophilia A patients, measurement of blood counts, and other hematology parameters.
